About Our Vanilla
Vanilla beans develop unique flavor profiles based on where they’re grown. For example, Madagascar is known for producing creamy, rich, and sweet vanilla. Tahitian vanilla tends to have floral and fruity notes. Mexican vanilla often brings a bold, slightly spicy flavor. Each region’s climate, soil, and curing process shapes the final taste, making each origin distinct in its aroma and flavor complexity.
Vanilla Extract Questions
Is this a ready-made extract or DIY?
Our product is a DIY kit, designed for you to create your own vanilla extract at home over time. We provide the beans and guidance, and you get to watch the flavor develop!
What ratio of vanilla to alcohol should I use, and what proof alcohol is best?
For a balanced extract, use about 4 ounces of alcohol for every half ounce of vanilla beans. Choose an alcohol that’s at least 70–80 proof (35–40% alcohol by volume) to properly extract the flavors from the beans.
Vanilla extract truly needs time to shine. While you’ll start noticing a hint of flavor after about six weeks, the real magic happens after six months. For the richest, most complex vanilla flavor, waiting a year or more is ideal. In short, the longer you wait, the better—and more luxurious—it tastes!
How do I know my vanilla extract is ready?
One simple test is to whip up a little cream with a bit of your extract. If the cream carries a deep, rich vanilla aroma and flavor rather than a sharp alcohol bite, you’ll know the extract has matured. The longer it’s aged, the more nuanced and well-rounded that vanilla flavor will be.
Vanilla Bean Questions
If you notice tiny crystals forming on the surface of your vanilla beans, don’t worry! That crystallization is actually a sign of natural vanillin and does not mean the beans have gone bad. They’re still perfectly good to use!”
Using Your Vanilla
Do I need to know how to make vanilla extract before ordering?
Not at all. Every kit comes with a printed, easy-to-follow guide that walks you through the entire process. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve made extract before, you’ll have everything you need to get started.
What can I use my vanilla extract with?
Your vanilla extract can be used in so many ways! It’s perfect for baking classics like cookies, cakes, brownies, and pastries. You can also add it to coffee, lattes, or homemade syrups for a warm, rich flavor. It works beautifully in whipped cream, frostings, oatmeal, and even savory dishes that call for a subtle depth of sweetness. Once it’s ready, it becomes a staple you’ll reach for again and again.

Returns & Issues
If you experience any issues with your vanilla beans, please contact us within 72 hours of delivery. Due to the nature of the product, we cannot accept returns or replacements beyond that timeframe.
In accordance with Hawaii cottage food laws, our products carry a label stating they are made in a home kitchen that is not subject to routine government inspection. This is a standard requirement for small-batch food businesses in Hawaii.
While our products are carefully packaged rather than cooked, we follow clean, food-safe handling practices and take great care in preparing each order with quality and attention to detail.
Do you sell ounces of vanilla beans separately ?
At the moment, we don’t offer vanilla beans by the ounce, but it’s something we plan to offer in the near future—so stay tuned!
Shipping Policy
When will my order Ship?
Orders will be processed in the order they are received. Please allow 3–5 business days for careful preparation before shipment. Once your order is on its way, you’ll receive tracking information to follow its journey to you. Please refer to our shipping policy page for more information.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery times vary based on location. Because we are based in Hawaii, orders shipped to the mainland U.S. may initially show an estimated delivery time of 2–3 weeks once shipped.
In many cases, we’ve noticed that once packages reach the mainland, the delivery estimate updates and orders are delivered sooner—often within about a week after shipment. While this is common, it is not guaranteed, and we recommend planning based on the original delivery estimate.
For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.
What happens if there's a shipping delay or issue?
Once orders are shipped, any delays or issues in transit are managed by the shipping carrier, though we’ll always assist where we can.
Please ensure your shipping address is correct at checkout. We cannot be responsible for packages sent to incorrect addresses provided by the customer.
